S.P.L.A.A.A.T. (THE
Society for the Preservation of Live American Aural Arts) was formed
in 1988 to play jazz for listening
and dancing.
Although the various
.horn
players have
changed over the years, the original rhythm trio of Tom Harbeck -
guitar, Lew Morrison - bass,
and Marlon Foster - drums continue to provide a solid swinging musical
foundation. For this concert S.P.L.A.A.A.T. will feature two of
the area's finest horn
players ............. Tim Weir - trumpet/flugelhorn and
Brett Kirby
=
saxes.

Chef Drew Buzik has been cooking
professionally for over 20 years. He has worked his way through
kitchens up and down the east coast from Miami to Pittsburgh,
and as far west as Portland, Oregon. Currently, Chef Drew
resides in Southwest Virginia and is actively involved in the
local sustainable foods movement. His family grows a wide
variety of seasonal produce in their backyard garden year round,
and can often be found at local farmers markets shopping for
what they don't grow themselves. Nearly all meat, poultry, and
some fish that Chef Drew uses also comes from local farms."

Chaise Lounge performs a blend of music
that sounds like it was recorded at Capitol Recording Studios in 1962
and somehow found its way to today’s pop charts. You might call it
“Early Stereo.” Or perhaps Lounge with a capital “L.” Or maybe just
plain enjoyable. I is the combination of five of the Washington area’s
top jazz musicians playing sparkling arrangements of standards and
original tunes and featuring the soft, luminous vocals of Marilyn
Older. Her voice is truly an American Original.

.An evening spent
with her is an evening spent in the warm, inviting glow of one of
the wonderful voices singing in America right now.
